I was having problem with getting enough glue flow on my sheet goods. It was starting good for a foot or so then glue was very erratic and spotty. I cleaned out the top end of the gluepot roller area. This is fired up first time and this made a huge difference in even glue flow!

    Not me debating whether or not to completely scrap my beveled shaker doors that I just cut out for my house 😅

      Ha! Well maybe don’t scrap them out just yet! You should give it at least 24 hours before making any rash decisions😂

    I can't figure out if the staple is released from the spring loaded bit or the part below it. I need to be extremely precise with my staples and need very good clearance to get within millimeters of a perpendicular surface so this information would be very helpful.

    Will it go through light gauge metal?

  • @Golgafrinchamdent

    Nice idea, but it seems like the slider table & miter gauge is mounted backward. The fence should be on the operator side... no?

    What is the extension piece and flip stop attached to the mitre gauge - is it a festool part or did you acquire it from somewhere else?

    • @ragstir
      @ragstir 6 років тому

      Tim Moran that looks like the the mitre gauge and fence off the festool mft3 table

    Nice tiny shop! The vid was super helpful. I have one question: 1. Are the extrusion and flip stop (a.k.a "flag stop") that you've installed on the miter gauge (for cross-cutting) both cannibalized from an MFT/3? Or did you acquire them separately as spare parts or is the fence a non-Festool extrusion that just happens to be compatible?

    Nice!! Thanks for posting. You're doing alot in that small space. I like your abbreviated Paulk ultimate workbench. I see your domino holes you've added I'm assuming as workpiece supports. nice add.

    • @RetrotechCNC
      @RetrotechCNC 4 роки тому

      Yes, i think Festool could really do something more with domino related bench accessories. I have other plans for similar "domino dogs" as well

    Thanks for the info. Pretty much all of my stuff is 24" wide or less. I also love the Rotex sanders!

  • @AWoodworkersLife
    @AWoodworkersLife 10 років тому

    I build cabinets for a living but don't have the power requirements for a widebelt. Right now I use a 6" Rotex for my major sanding, but I am thinking of getting a drum sander. Would a person be better off to get a 4 post style drum sander instead of a cantilever head design like yours was?

    • @RetrotechCNC
      @RetrotechCNC 10 років тому

      I believe so unless you are convinced you will be sanding out larger table tops etc. I don't believe these machines are really that capable though.. With a four post unit its not going to flex like this design. I really only miss it for sanding down stiles and rails. So for that I could get away with a small drum sander. I love my festool's though! Mostly use the Rotex 125, but would like the Rotex 90 soon.

  • @AWoodworkersLife
    @AWoodworkersLife 10 років тому

    How bad are the cross grain scratches on the rails with running the doors through assembled like that? Looks like a nice sander, would you recommend it?

    • @RetrotechCNC
      @RetrotechCNC 10 років тому

      Unfortunately, I sold it due to lack of space. It will leave some scratches. But it works great for leveling out the door. Just finish sand lightly afterward. -These machines can be fussy to use at full width like you see here though. Now I just use my festool mft table and sand it out with the clamping elements. In the future, I will probably invest in a wide belt sander. Thanks!
